Stephen V. Sobel MD
Stephen V. Sobel MD is a nationally recognized psychiatric expert and lecturer on the treatment of Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Insomnia, Eating Disorders, Cognitive Psychotherapy, Psychopharmacology and Behavioral Medicine. Asked to teach across the United States, Dr. Sobel has lectured to thousands of psychotherapists and physicians including as a Featured Speaker at the CAMFT 2008 Annual Conference. The U.S. Psychiatric and Mental Health Congress honored Dr. Sobel as the Teacher of the Year in 2007. Dr Sobel is a Board Certified Psychiatrist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He graduated with honors from Duke University and Vanderbilt University Medical School where he was honored with the Beauchamp Award for outstanding performance and promise in Psychiatry. After completing an Internship in Internal Medicine with Georgetown University at the District of Columbia General Hospital, Dr. Sobel moved to San Diego where he completed a Residency in Psychiatry at UCSD. He has special interests in the treatment of Depression, Mania, Anxiety Disorders, Insomnia, Eating Disorders, ADD, and Work-Related Stress. Dr. Sobel maintains a private practice in adult and adolescent Psychiatry in San Diego and Carlsbad, CA. He has been in practice for 22 years and has successfully treated thousands of clients. Having a special interest in Sports Psychiatry, Dr. Sobel serves as Consulting Psychiatrist for the NFL San Diego Chargers and Consulting Psychiatrist for the MLB San Diego Padres. He is a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at UCSD School of Medicine and serves as Supervising Psychiatrist for the USCD Student Run Free Clinic for the Homeless. Dr. Sobel has been appointed a Qualified Medical Examiner by the Workers Compensation Appeals Board of California and he is an Expert Medical Reviewer for the Medical Board of California. He has authored several articles in such publications as the American Journal of Psychiatry, Primary Psychiatry, Journal Watch, Managed Behavioral Healthcare, Medscape, and Audio-Digest.
Frances W. Brown, LCSW
"Frances W. Brown, LCSW is a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work. Ms Brown has been in private practice for 15 years in the San Diego area and currently specializes in the treatment of issues surrounding adoption, infertility, birth family reunification, and attachment and addressing ethics in adoption. She also focuses a large part of her practice on grief work and couples therapy. Ms. Brown is past President of the San Diego Adoption Coalition and was a founding member of the Rape Intervention Organization in Clarksville, Tennessee. She is a Consultant and Educator for San Diego area adoption agencies and has been a Clinical Supervisor for Social Work and Psychology interns. She has been a Featured Speaker for Resolve (National Infertility Support Group) and the Society for Clinical Social Work.  Ms. Brown graduated with honors from Austin Peay State University and obtained a Masters Degree in Social Work from Ohio State University.
Howard L. Sattler MS,MA,MFT, NCC
Howard L. Sattler did his undergraduate work at the University of Michigan where he studied psychology and anthropology. As an undergraduate he conducted a field study in native shamanic healing among the Swahili tribe of Kenya and also received training in biofeedback therapy becoming one of the first certified biofeedback therapists in the United States. He first worked in a sleep laboratory at the University of Michigan later working at the prestigious Lafayette Clinic in Detroit where he co-authored papers on the evaluation of Insomnia. He went on to obtain his masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Michigan University and subsequently another masters degree in Health Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology where he focused his training in behavioral medicine and cognitive behavioral therapy. He helped establish, manage and provide clinical services for Harbor View Hospital sleep disorders center in San Diego, California. Mr. Sattler has over 25 years of experience as a licensed psychotherapist. He has extensive experience in mind/body therapy using tools such as Biofeedback, Mindfulness Training, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat problems such as Headache, Muscle Pain, Reynaud’s Disorder, Autoimmune Disorders as well as Anxiety and Depression. As the director of the biofeedback center at Kaiser Permanente, he helped create the wellness programs, developed the stress management CD series used in all San Diego regional wellness programs and created the Insomnia treatment program. He is currently in private practice in Orinda, California.
